Welcome to the Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP) Toolshare

NEP's low-cost Tool Library, designed to serve people that live and work in convenient proximity of our Climate Hub in the Meadows.

Located at the Climate Hub, 32 Turney St, NG2 2LG, opening on Fridays from 4pm-7pm.

In December 2024, Nottingham Energy Partnership set up the Toolshare as part of the National Lottery-funded Green Meadows project. In line with our charitable objectives, our aim was to make local residents’ DIY projects more affordable and less environmentally impactful: every tool borrowed is one less that has to be made, bought or rented, stored, and serviced. By April 2026, the average member had saved £582 and avoided 53 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e).

By creating it as a Membership service under its own brand, NEP is proud to continue this support for the community and open it to more people across Nottingham. For just £70 a year, members gain access to affordable tool hire, helping make low-cost tool rental accessible to more people.

Why Toolshare?

Save money - Many of our tools would cost up to £200 to buy, you can save money by borrowing them

Save the planet - It takes a lot of energy and resources to make power tools. Sharing means less tools need to be made, and less end up in a landfill too.

Save space - Free up space in your home, with no need to worry about maintaining the tools either.

Make home improvements - By learning new skills at DIY Workshops and gaining expert advice from a tailored home energy plan, NEP's Toolshare can help to spur your home improvements into action.

How does it work?

Sign up as a member: Click here to sign up as a member so you can start to make online reservations for tools.

Reserve your tool rental online - Our handy online tool library allows you to browse the tools that we currently have available. The first step to borrowing a tool is to reserve your tool rental online for collection from the NEP Climate Hub, 32 Turney Street. You will receive a confirmation email.

Collect your tool and leave a deposit - Come down to collect your tool on the first day of your allotted reservation. You must pay a refundable deposit at the Hub in order to check the tool out.

Return your tool - Return your tool on the allotted end date of your reservation. The tools should be in the the same (or better) condition as they were issued, barring normal wear and tear in order for your deposit to be returned.
